About the Concrete Column Calculator
This calculator finds the concrete volume needed for round columns, piers or sonotube footings, which are common for deck posts, fence posts and pier-and-beam foundations.
Formula: Volume per Column = π × Radius² × Height, where Radius = Diameter ÷ 2 (converted to feet); Total Cubic Yards = (Volume per Column × Quantity) ÷ 27
Round forms are sized by their outside diameter, so measure your sonotube or form directly rather than relying on its nominal size. Always order a little extra concrete — a short pour on a column can be difficult to patch cleanly.
