About the Fahrenheit to Celsius Calculator

Fahrenheit and Celsius are the two temperature scales most commonly used around the world — Fahrenheit primarily in the United States, and Celsius almost everywhere else, including in science. Converting from Fahrenheit to Celsius means first subtracting 32 (to align the zero points) and then scaling by 5/9, since the two scales use different-sized degrees.

Formula: °C = (°F − 32) × 5/9

For example, normal human body temperature of 98.6°F converts to exactly 37°C. Water freezes at 32°F, which converts to 0°C, and boils at 212°F, which converts to 100°C — the two scales are defined to agree at exactly those two reference points.

This is one of the most frequently searched conversions in the world, used every day for reading weather forecasts, oven temperatures, medical thermometers and scientific data when moving between US and metric-standard sources.
