About the Bond Yield Calculator (Current Yield)
Current yield is a quick way to measure a bond's income return, comparing its annual coupon payment to what it currently costs to buy, rather than to its original face value.
Formula: Current Yield = (Annual Coupon Payment ÷ Current Bond Price) × 100
Current yield ignores capital gains or losses if the bond is held to maturity, for a fuller picture, look at yield to maturity (YTM), which also accounts for the difference between price and face value.
