About the Futures Contract P&L Calculator
Futures contracts obligate the holder to buy or sell an underlying asset at a set price on a future date. Profit or loss depends on the direction of the position and how far the price moves from entry to exit.
Formula: Long P&L = (Exit Price − Entry Price) × Multiplier × Contracts · Short P&L = (Entry Price − Exit Price) × Multiplier × Contracts
Because futures are highly leveraged — controlling a large notional position with a relatively small margin deposit — both gains and losses are magnified compared to owning the underlying asset outright.
