About the Zakat Calculator

Zakat is an obligatory annual charitable contribution in Islam, calculated on wealth that has been held for a full lunar year and exceeds a minimum threshold called the nisab. It applies to cash, savings, gold, silver, investments and business inventory, minus debts owed.

Formula: Zakat Due = 2.5% × (Total Qualifying Assets − Liabilities), only if the net amount is at or above the nisab threshold.

The nisab is traditionally pegged to the value of a set weight of gold or silver, so it changes with market prices — update the threshold field to reflect current rates before relying on the result for religious obligations.
