About the Interval Notation Calculator
Interval notation is a compact way to write a continuous range of numbers. Square brackets mean the endpoint is included in the set; parentheses mean it is excluded.
Formula: [a, b] includes both endpoints · (a, b) excludes both · [a, b) and (a, b] include only one side
This notation is used constantly when writing the domain or range of a function, or the solution set of an inequality.
