About the Long Multiplication Calculator

Long multiplication breaks a multiplication problem into simpler pieces: multiply the first number by each digit of the second number, shifting each partial product left by one place, then add all the partial products together.

Formula: Product = sum of (First Number × each digit of the Second Number × its place value)

This is the standard method taught for multiplying multi-digit numbers by hand, and it underlies how multiplication algorithms work in computing too.
