About the Relative Risk Calculator
Relative risk (risk ratio) compares the probability of an outcome occurring in an exposed group to the probability in an unexposed group. It's a core measure in epidemiology and clinical studies for judging how strongly an exposure is linked to an outcome.
Formula: RR = (Events in Exposed ÷ Total Exposed) ÷ (Events in Unexposed ÷ Total Unexposed)
An RR of 1 means the exposure makes no difference, RR > 1 means the exposed group has higher risk, and RR < 1 means the exposure appears protective. Unlike odds ratios, relative risk is a direct ratio of probabilities, making it more intuitive to interpret.
