About the Skewness Calculator
Skewness measures the asymmetry of a distribution around its mean. A skewness of 0 indicates a perfectly symmetric distribution; positive skewness means a longer tail on the right, and negative skewness means a longer tail on the left.
Formula: g1 = m₃ ÷ m₂³⁄², where m₂ = ∑(x − x̄)² ÷ n and m₃ = ∑(x − x̄)³ ÷ n
Skewed data can distort the mean relative to the median — right-skewed distributions like income tend to have a mean pulled above the median by a small number of very high values.
