About the Tile Calculator

This calculator finds how many individual tiles you need to cover a floor or wall, based on the room's area and the face size of the tile you've chosen.

Formula: Room Area = Room Length × Room Width; Tile Area (sq ft) = (Tile Length × Tile Width) ÷ 144; Tiles Needed = (Room Area × (1 + Waste %)) ÷ Tile Area

A 10% waste allowance covers cuts along walls for a straight layout; increase it to 15-20% for diagonal layouts, herringbone patterns or rooms with lots of jogs and fixtures. Always order all tile from the same production lot to avoid subtle color variation.
