About the Curtain Fabric Calculator
Curtains need extra fabric width beyond the window itself for a gathered, full look, and extra length for hems and the top heading where they attach to the rod.
Formula: Panels Needed = ceil((Window Width × Fullness Factor) ÷ Fabric Bolt Width); Total Fabric = (Window Height + Hem Allowance) × Panels, converted to yards.
A fullness factor of 2 to 2.5 gives a nicely gathered look; use 1 for a flat panel style. Adjust the hem allowance for your preferred rod pocket or hem depth.
