This simplified calculator estimates total fabric yardage for a sewing project by multiplying the length of each fabric panel by how many panels the pattern needs, plus a 10% allowance for seams and cutting waste.

Formula: Yardage = (Panel Length × Number of Panels × 1.1) ÷ 36 inches per yard

Enter the length of a single fabric piece and how many identical pieces the pattern calls for (like a skirt front and back, or curtain panels) to get a rough estimate in both yards and meters. Always check your specific pattern's fabric requirements for prints with repeats or directional fabric.
