About the Recipe Scaling Calculator

Scaling a recipe up or down means multiplying every ingredient by the same ratio, so the proportions (and hopefully the taste) stay the same no matter how many servings you're making.

Formula: Scale Factor = Desired Servings ÷ Original Servings; Scaled Quantity = Original Quantity × Scale Factor

Enter the quantity for one ingredient (in whatever unit the recipe uses — cups, teaspoons, grams, ounces) along with the original and desired serving counts to get that ingredient's new quantity. Run each ingredient through the same scale factor to resize the whole recipe.

Keep in mind that scaling works perfectly for most ingredients, but seasonings, leavening agents (like baking soda) and cooking times don't always scale linearly — taste and check doneness rather than trusting the math blindly for those.
