About the Continuous Compound Interest Calculator

Continuous compounding is the theoretical limit of compound interest as the number of compounding periods per year approaches infinity — interest is constantly being added to the balance rather than at fixed intervals.

Formula: A = Pert, where P is principal, e is Euler's number (≈2.71828), r is the annual interest rate, and t is time in years.

In practice, few real accounts compound continuously, but the formula is a useful upper bound: it shows the maximum possible balance for a given nominal rate, since compounding daily, monthly or annually will always produce a slightly smaller amount.
