About the Chord Calculator
Every chord is built from a root note plus a specific pattern of intervals (measured in semitones) stacked on top of it. Knowing the pattern for each chord type lets you find the notes of any chord in any key.
How it works: Starting from the root note's position in the 12-note chromatic scale, the calculator adds the semitone intervals for the selected chord type — for example, a major chord uses root, +4 semitones and +7 semitones.
This is useful for songwriters and guitarists working out chord voicings, or for music students learning how major, minor, seventh and suspended chords are constructed.
