Easter Date Calculator
Calculate the date of Easter Sunday for any year using the standard Gregorian Easter algorithm.
About the Easter Date Calculator
Easter Sunday's date moves each year because it's defined relative to the first full moon after the spring equinox, not a fixed calendar date. This calculator uses the well-known "anonymous Gregorian algorithm" (attributed to Gauss and refined by Meeus) to compute it exactly.
How it works: The algorithm tracks the Metonic cycle of the moon and the Gregorian calendar's leap-year rules through a series of modular arithmetic steps to pinpoint the correct Sunday.
This calculation applies to the Western (Gregorian) Easter date used by Catholic and most Protestant churches; Eastern Orthodox Easter is calculated differently, using the Julian calendar, and often falls on a different date.
