About the Vocal Range Calculator

A voice's range is measured from its lowest to highest comfortably sung note, and singers are traditionally grouped into voice types (like bass, baritone, tenor, contralto, mezzo-soprano or soprano) based on where that range typically sits.

How it works: The calculator compares your entered range against the typical range of each standard voice type and reports whichever type overlaps your range the most.

This is only a general estimate — actual voice classification by a vocal coach also considers tone color (timbre), vocal break points (passaggio) and comfort at range extremes, not range alone.
