About the Camera Field of View Calculator
A lens's field of view — how much of a scene it captures — depends on both the focal length and the physical size of the camera's sensor. The same lens produces a narrower field of view on a smaller (cropped) sensor than on a full-frame sensor.
Formula: Field of View = 2 × arctan(Sensor Dimension ÷ (2 × Focal Length))
This formula is applied separately to the sensor's width, height and diagonal to give the horizontal, vertical and diagonal angles of view, which is useful for choosing a lens that will frame a scene correctly before you shoot.
